In October 1702, England and the Dutch Republic received news that a Spanish ship full of silver arrived Vigo Bay in Spain. It was protected by 15 French ship and 3 Spanish galleons who were all burnt or captured on the attack on October 23. Unfortunately, most of the treasures were off-loaded before the attack, but 4,504 lb 2 oz of silver and 7 lb 8 oz of gold was found.
A limited amount of coins, with the word VIGO under Anne's bust, were minted from this loot.
