Cash
Round piece of bronze or brass with a square hole in the centre, used as subsidiary coinage in China for almost 2000 years, until the early twelfth century. In Chinese these pieces were known as Ch 'ien or Li and strung together in groups of 1000 were equivalent to a silver tael. (from Portuguese 'caixa', Hindi 'kasu')
