Cistophori
(Greek for 'chest bearing'), a generic term for the coins of Pergamum with an obverse motif of a chest showing a serpent crawling out of the half-opened lid. Cistophori became very popular all over Asia Minor in the third and second centuries BC and were struck also at mints in lonia, Phrygia, Lydia and Mysia.
